It's now New Year's Eve, which means there are exactly 21 days until I leave (not including today)! I can't believe it's finally so close... this all happened so fast. I didn't even decide I was going to study abroad this spring until the beginning of this past October, so everything has been go go go in getting ready for this trip, and now it seems like I'm in a race with the clock to get everything done in time. Ahhh! But it will all happen, I'll get it all done... somehow.
It hasn't quite hit me yet that I won't be going back to UMD next semester and seeing all my friends and being in a familiar place, but that's what studying abroad is all about: meeting new people, living in new places, experiencing a new culture, and exploring the world. A lot of people have been asking me if I'm scared to leave, frightened to just jump into an unfamiliar culture with people I don't even know, but I am honestly so excited for this upcoming semester that I don't think I have room for any fear or anxiety in me about this situation. I know it's going to be a fantastic semester abroad and I'm going to make the absolute best of it that I can. I don't want to regret a single thing about it, and I don't think I will.
I'll post a couple more times before I leave when it's closer to my departure date when I have more details on how to stay in touch with me next semester and where I'll be living and such. :)
Cahoonah!
